Tamariu - Costa Brava
Tamariu is a small town with an unspoiled beach and great little restaurants. There are no big hotels. Tamariu is literally the place to kick back and relax and enjoy the beautiful bays and coves, the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean and the delicious cuisine of the local region.
It is also a popular diving site, as there are many caves to explore. There is a dive centre in the local village. Nearby places Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell are worth a visit. Barcelona with its many attractions is only a one and a half hour drive away.
Climate
Most of the time Tamariu basks in warm sunshine; the summers are long, with the heat alleviated by gentle breezes caressing the verdant and sometimes sylvan landscape where here and there mountains tumble down towards a crystal sea. Autumn and spring weather is mostly fine, with clear skies and thoroughly agreeable temperatures. The short winter can be wet and windy at times. However it is not unusual in January to have mild, sunny days and diving conditions are good all year round.

To see and do
There are many places of interest including inland medieval towns such as Peratallada. This village is kept in pristine condition and has some very individually styled restaurants and shops. Visit Salvador Dali`s castle which he gifted to his wife Gala, at Pubol and his amazing museum at Figueres. Or walk along the coastal path from Tamariu to Llafranc and from Llafranc to Calella de Palafrugell. Enjoy the amazing view, even to the snowy mountains of the Pyrenees from the old castle at Begur or the lighthouse between Tamariu and Llafranc.
